It’s an interesting system that is flawed in a few ways. First off, Minds user base isn’t quite large enough to really incentivize you to reach as many users as possible via tokens. As such, you’re still kind of better off using your promotion time on Twitter and Facebook. Even if your content gets sucked into the void, it still feels like you’re getting more attention on popular platforms.
Twitter also suffers from bad publicity as extremists had consistently used it for political persuasions, and no, we are not talking about just Trump. There are trolls, religious groups, terrorists, criminals and other tons of accounts that are being used for public manipulation. There are celebrities who are stuck with millions of followers and nowhere else to go. Twitter has become a mess with a handful of active celebrities and politicians, and if you too are looking for a Twitter alternative where you can engage in positive ideas and conversations, share media files with friends and families, this list might be of some help. Here is a quick rundown.
The Nextdoor mobile app for Android and iOS is a great way for people to keep up with the Joneses, the Kardashians, or anyone else in your neighborhood. Whether you want to make friends with your neighbors; are looking to easily sell your stuff; want to hire a babysitter, house sitter, or dog walker; or get informed about yard sales, what you need may be as close as a neighbor a few doors away. Nextdoor has also become a popular place for posts that alert users to nearby criminal activity and for sharing critical info during an earthquake or flood, for example.
SlimSocial for Facebook is one of the lightest Facebook alternative apps, it weighs less than 400KB, and it’s free to use. This app does not come with ads, at least not its own, you will see Facebook’s feed ads, though. The design is quite simple, reminiscent of the mobile Facebook app, and the app works really well, even though the developer notes that the app is in development, and that some features may not work as intended. This is a final version of the app despite what the developer's note says, so feel free to try it out.
Simple for Facebook actually comes in two options, “Simple Free” and “Simple Pro”, both of which are linked down below. The free variant of the app comes with ads, while the paid does not, not to mention that you’re getting a number of additional options in the Pro version which costs $4. There are a number of themes available in this app, while you can also pin pages, groups, and more if you want.

Twitter, the platform I once loved, has turned into a terrible place. It's become a way to pervert the political discourse, to enable trolls, and to fuel the spread of conspiracy theories. And that's just lately. Seeing people I generally like and agree with subtweeting and attacking others—on top of the world's perpetually bleak news—has begun to gnaw away at my mental health and spiritual wellbeing. It simply isn't what I signed up for.

There’s a bit of a barrier to entry, but it’s not that tough. If you need help signing up, there’s a great beginner’s guide here. Madeline Stone, who oversees public relations for Steemit, shared some advice on getting started on Steemit with Heavy.com. She advised:  “As far as helping people who are joining Steemit for the first time, posting in the introduceyourself tag is a great way to get started — other Steemians will then comment on your post and provide resources for newbies. People can also look for help by posting questions in the #help channel at https://steem.chat/home.”
I'm going to end this piece by stating that I love Instagram. It is where all my clients are on a daily basis, I get to engage with new audiences, connect with new creatives, and often scroll till my thumb gets numb. But Instagram is also a victim of it's own success. The bombardment of bots (which will hopefully slow down) that auto-comment, limited search engine, and increase in sponsored posts is spoiling the broth. I've given five alternatives above that each bring something different to the party, and may create new avenues of interest and creative expression to pursue in this digital, mobile age. Please share any of your own alternatives below.
The best replacement is a password manager, which can store your credentials for every site you use in one place. It can also generate a new, secure password every time you sign up for a new website or service. Here's an in-depth guide to choosing the best password manager for you and why you should be using one. Our two favorite picks are 1Password and LastPass.

If you are a crazy blogger then you must spend time on Tumblr because it can entertain all age groups with impressive interface. Tumblr is currently being used by lots of youngsters and teens and they love to share video clips over here. It also allows users to personalize their blog posts, use unique formats and follow catchy styles so that more readers can be attracted. Followers can easily find all updates on their dashboard and can stay connected with all latest updates easily. Liking different posts and reblogging are the common tasks that people do on Tumblr. There are so many users connected to Tumblr community and they keep on sharing valuable blogs with each other. You will be glad to know that from Tumblr itself, you can easily link your blogs on dashboards of Facebook and Twitter accounts. It is also possible to set timings for post durations over network.
Look familiar? We originally published this post shortly after Facebook's acquisition of and the Android launch of Instagram. We were concerned then about the influence Facebook would have on it, and now it's borne fruit in the form of an invasive terms-of-service agreement. The agreement gives Instagram rights to and ownership of your photos to sell and use in ads as they see fit. Sure, you probably don't care if they sell that photo of your coffee foam, but you and your friends may care if they sell photos of your faces or likenesses to a company that uses your shot in their ad material. Unfortunately, at this stage the only way to opt-out is to close your account and move to another service, like some of these great alternatives.
Pros & Cons Many Twitter users were taken by surprise recently when Twitter announced that it was going to experiment with increasing the character limit  Missing: softwarepros and cons of twitter for businessnegatives of twitterpros and cons of twitter advertisingpros and cons instagrampros and cons of snapchat for businesspros and cons of youtubePeople also search for ...

Realistically, Facebook has the advantage of scale – everyone is on it, and it’s not going to be easy to get enough people to switch over to a new network to make it a viable alternative. Networks that focus on niche communities may have better luck, but for average users, the best option is probably to pick a network that appeals to you, join up, explore, and cross-post with your regular social media. Like it or not, Facebook and Twitter are dominant, and any serious competitor is going to have to integrate with them to at least some degree to make switching a softer move for the users.

Here’s what Mastodon is: an open-source, community-run microblogging website. It lets you post “toots,” and you can “boost” other users’ posts. It’s mostly like Twitter, but instead of living in one place, the social network lives in different chunks, called “instances,” each with its own rules and administrators. That’s what makes up a “federation,” and it protects the integrity of the service—there is no single, central server. So, if one instance stops paying for their internet or forgets to re-up their URL, the rest are unharmed in their semi-permeable silos.
Someone You Loved is Capaldi’s first single to pass the mark, while Giant is Harris’ 20th and Rag’n’Bone Man’s third. Overall consumption of Harris tracks since his 2007 debut Acceptable In The 80s stand at 22,544,175. That’s a huge amount but Rihanna - with whom he spent six weeks at No.1 with We Found Love in 2011 – dwarfs that with a to-date tally of 41,073,313 since her 2005 debut. Steel Banglez, AJ Tracey and MoStack all score their first Top 10 single, with their collaboration Fashion Week becoming the highest of this week’s five new entries to the Top 75 at No.7 (31,270 sales). It is Steel Banglez’ third Top 75 hit as a credited artist – he has many more as a producer - AJ Tracey’s 10th and MoStack’s sixth. Four weeks after peaking at No.7, Options makes gains for the second week in a row for NSG feat. Tion Wayne, and returns to the Top 10, climbing 11-10 (24,899 sales). And four weeks after debuting and peaking at No.8, Walk Me Home rallies 12-9 (27,350 sales) for Pink, helped by its newly-released promotional video. There are new peaks inside the Top 10 for Just You And I (4-3, 40,727 sales) by Tom Walker, Sucker (5-4, 36,898 sales) by Jonas Brothers, Location (8-6, 31,564 sales) by Dave feat. Burna Boy and - improving its chart position for the eighth straight week since it debuted at No.43 - I’m So Tired (9-8, 28,138 sales) by Lauv & Troye Sivan. Completing a rare Top 10 in which eight tracks climb two are static and none fall, Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored surfs 6-5 (32,922 sales) for Ariana Grande. Overall singles sales are up 4.66% week-on-week at 18,494,978. That is their second highest level to date, and 12.33% above same week 2018 sales of 16,465,382. Paid-for sales are down 0.44% week-on-week at 741,229, and are 28.55% below same week 2018 sales of 1,037,469. 27 years after he topped the album chart with his eponymous debut solo album, Michael Ball returns to the summit with Coming Home To You. The album is a collection of covers by the 56-year-old, with many of the songs pre-dating Ball’s first album, including To Love Somebody (The Bee Gees, 1967), Love Is Like A Butterfly (Dolly Parton, 1974) and Miss You Nights (Cliff Richard, 1975) and Sail On (The Commodores, 1979). Coming Home To You is Ball’s first album since his back-to-back No.1 collaborations with fellow tenor Alfie Boe, Together (November 2016), and Together Again (November 2017). Thus providing his fourth No.1 in all, it is also his 22nd Top 75 album, and his ninth Top 10 album, it can’t match those Boe collaborations for first week sales. Consumption of 18,039 units (including 114 from sales-equivalent streams) – the lowest for a No.1 since Ed Sheeran’s Divide topped 83 weeks ago with 13,975 sales - is considerably below Together’s first week tally of 44,860 and Together Again’s 43,795. It is also below the 19,087 copies that Boe’s subsequent solo album, As Time Goes By, sold when it debuted and peaked 17 weeks ago at No.10. Blending original recordings of the former with newly-recorded instrumental elements provided by the latter, The Carpenters With Royal Philharmonic Orchestra reached No.8 last December and, with Richard Carpenter on a UK promotional tour, re-enters this week at No.10 (5,880 sales). George Ezra scores his sixth Top 40 single with Pretty Shining People (41-38), while parent album Staying At Tamara’s sales increase 13.17% week-on-week to 11,541 – a 10 week high – as it climbs 6-5. The rest of the Top 10: Singing To Strangers (1-2, 14,046 sales) by Jack Savoretti, The Greatest Showman soundtrack (4-3, 13,799 sales), What A Time To Be Alive (3-4, 1,534 sales) by Tom Walker, Bohemian Rhapsody (5-6, 10,710 sales) by Queen, Psychodrama (2-7, 10,495 sales) by Dave, Thank U Next (7-8, 9,119 sales) by Ariana Grande and A Star Is Born (8-9, 7,438 sales by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper. Overall album sales are up 4.86% week-on-week at 1,796,945, 4.67% below same week 2018 sales of 1,882,925. Sales-equivalent streams accounted for a record 1,182,979 sales, 65.83% of the total. Sales of paid-for albums are up 4.25% week-on-week at 613,966, 33.84% below same week 2018 sales of 928,024.
Today's Twitter calls to mind the plot of Ghostbusters 2: It's a digital sewer of negativity slime we're all wading through. With the company's fortunes tied directly to user count, there's little incentive to purge bad actors or even those who break Twitter's own rules, especially if they're famous enough. In this case, I did what the Ghostbusters might do—I broke with the establishment and took things into my own hands. I (mostly) left Twitter, and joined Mastodon.

In truth, there are entirely reasonable discussions on Gab; the distasteful stuff you would have to go looking for. If anything, it is perhaps a good argument against online anonymity. All of this controversy is a shame, as the Gab platform is really good, giving you 300 character status updates. The site feels like a combination of Facebook and Twitter, and Gabs can be automatically shared to Twitter (should you want to).

I know that personally, I’m not too jazzed about the learning curve of some of these new options and prefer the more familiar layouts of Real.Video (Brighteon), MeWe, and Gab. But honestly, people on social media can just be so horrible that Selco Begovic and I started an old-fashioned forum that is a throw-back to the 90s/early 2000s. I like forums because they’re familiar, comfortable, and they draw likeminded people together.
I will be 77 years old in a few weeks and the last 5 years I had built a network of friends and family of course, like everyone else, posted family pictures for posterity… anyway, was locked out due to a technicality and was so very lonely after 3 months I started a new account – my frieds were excited to reconnect and I felt like a kid in a candy store. 5 Days later am locked out again and bereft.
Secondly, there are regular competitions or "Missions" with specific briefs. Prizes come in various forms such as being published in an exhibition, having your work used in commercial campaigns, or cold hard cash. This is a great way for marketing teams of commercial brands or exhibition curators to hunt for new, enthusiastic talent. This gives any aspiring photographer the feeling that the playing field has been leveled, and if the quality is there, then you wont be ignored.

Vero lets you share photos and video just like Instagram, plus it lets you talk about music, movies or books you like or hate. Though Vero has been around since 2015, its popularity surged in recent days, thanks in part to sudden, word-of-mouth interest from the cosplay community — comic book fans who like to dress up as characters. That interest then spread to other online groups.

Before Snapseed there was Camera+. Its photoediting features are a lot better than Instagram’s, and even though it’s not as fully featured as Snapseed, you might like it more because it’s cheaper and bit easier to use. Other than the great filters provided, the best thing about Camera+ is the ability to capture photos by setting the exposure at a different point than the focus (something most camera apps don’t let you do). For only $0.99 Camera+ might be the most cost effective Instagram alternative.
Another interesting Instagram alternative is called Twitter. This is an online social networking platform where people can connect with others by making use of short content messages called Tweets. Many celebrities and famous personnel are using this app, where you can easily follow them and learn their stories by following their main account. Aside from that, you can also create your own tweets and share photos with your friends. This platform also offers some of the available filters that you can also find in Instagram. Moreover, Twitter on iPhone has a built-in editor for photos that is an additional super function.
We Heart It is another popular image sharing platform similar to Imgur, but its content is very feminine, primarily made of inspirational photos and quotes that appeal to young women. Instagrammers who love inspirational content might really love this app not just for the content but for connecting to very positive and inspirational users in the community too.

The two main ones I see are Micro.blog and Mastodon. Micro.blog is the more popular one right now, it seems, but Mastodon has its fair share of loyal fans. I personally have accounts with both other services, but I don’t really use them reliably. Mastodon because I can’t find anyone on there, and Micro.blog because I don’t like any of the iOS apps available for it.

Everything has its pros and cons and so does Facebook. While Facebook has become a part of our lives and it is loved by millions, it has got its share of criticisms. It has been panned across the globe for its ever changing privacy settings, which gives Facebook total control over the information that we provide on our accounts. If you are in mood for a surprise, just compare the privacy disclaimers of Facebook from its past to present to know the difference. Facebook’s experiments with the News Feed has also not gone down too well with users. The company’s Internet.org initiative has also made sure to irk net neutrality enthusiasts. To sum it up, these are good enough reasons to need Facebook alternatives.
On Minds, you can subscribe to people whose posts you want to see. I’m on there as StephDwilson. If you try it out, give me a follow. You can register for Minds through my affiliate link if you want, which is here or go without an affiliate link here. Once you sign up, you can create your own affiliate link for referrals. It’s an interesting concept.
Someone seeking to join a Mastodon or Diaspora instance only needs to set up an account on the instance they want to join, no specialized tech knowledge needed. And both platforms are designed with ease of use in mind, so people joining will likely find the interfaces familiar enough to adopt quickly – the default Mastodon styles are similar to Twitter, for example.
If you’re not interested in manually editing your images, you can quickly improve your shots with the preset filters designed specifically for portraits, landscapes, nightlife, food and sunsets. You can also mix and match to get a custom-made look for your photographs. As well as being able to share to all the usual social media platforms, you can also link back to Instagram.
Ello first gained popularity in the US about 3 years ago when it posed itself as a Facebook killer social network. This happened due to Facebook’s policy of forcing the members to use their legal name. Since then, it had made headlines on different occasions due to different reasons. Now that Zuckerberg’s service is facing flak, Ello is again gaining some traction. Primarily focused on artists and creative people, Ello is also ad-free. It also refrains itself from selling the information about the users to third parties. By being a niche website, Ello continues to attract users and establishing as a creators network.

Looking for a guild that accepts "newish" players into the guild and which is willing to teach the game mechanics. Currently I'm lvl 84 (not so new I guess, but still I can't really see myself as an intermediate). I'm playing Winter Orb Elementalist Witch, currently I'm mapping most of the time. My objective with my current character in this league would be to get to the Shaper. Still a long way to go but hopefully I'll get close to him.
